Aerial Drum
Aerial Drum [Pat.]
Darielle created this original idea for an Aerial African Drum in 2016 and was able to manufacture it in 2019 with the help of Peter Clarke. It perfectly encapsulates one of the main symbols of culture and ancestry for people of the African Diaspora, and has a special place in her heart as a Trinidadian woman.
She has been able to perform it with The Rainbow is Enuf - a BIPOC modern circus show based on the play For Colored Girls Who Have Ever Considered Suicide/The Rainbow is Enuf by Ntozake Shange. The show illuminates experiences of people of color, using circus arts, dance and original text.
The aerial drum act continues to evolve as Dari discovers how to move on her unique design. She is open to performing it and exposing her culture to people of all backgrounds, in the hopes of finding common ground within our shared humanity.
